With more than 20 years experience in marketing, advertising and communications, Sharon Harms remains passionate about her work. As a Creative Director, Art Director, Graphic Designer and Production Manager, Sharon has gained regional, national and international recognition for conceptual design on behalf of clients such as American Cancer Society, Girl Scouts, Graeter's Ice Cream, Tractor Supply Company, Michelob, Twix Candy Bars, Watkins College of Art & Design and the Tennessee Repertory Theatre.
Sharon is a visual communicator with diverse experience in the areas of advertising, publishing, identity and corporate communications. She has worked with clients in the categories of consumer products, appearal, nonprofit organizations, healthcare, the arts, entertainment, food and beverage, education, retail, business-to-business, technology, communications, banking and utilities. She has conceptualized, designed and produced a wide range of materials including advertising campaigns, websites, magazine features, annual reports, corporate identities, brochures, packaging, exhibit design, television commercials, video productions and radio commercials.
Currently working as an independent creative director, art director and designer in Asheville, NC. Sharon has taken on projects for Gannett, Brains on Fire, Lewis Communications, Vanderbilt Medical Center, Boys Arnold & Company, OnTrack Financial Education & Counseling, Tops For Shoes and PACHEM (Presbyterian Association of Collegiate and Higher Education Ministers).
Prior to moving to western North Carolina, Sharon served as Creative Director and Partner of DH&Q/Tombras Advertising in Nashville, Tennessee. She has also held Associate Creative Director positions with the Buntin Group and Endres & Wilson Advertising in Nashville; Lowe & Partners, Fahlgren Martin and Griswald Advertising in Cleveland; and DMB&B Advertising in St. Louis. Sharon worked as Senior Art Director for Crispin Porter+Bogusky in Miami. She has also served as an adjunct instructor of graphic design for Watkin's College of Art & Design in Nashville.
Sharon was named Art Director of the Year three times by the Nashville Advertising Federation. She has been recognized by prestigious national and international competitions for creative innovation, including Communication Arts Advertising and Design Annuals, New York One Show, British Design & Art Directors Club, National Addys, Clios, New York Art Directors Club and International Print Annual. In local and regional competitions she has taken well over 100 awards for design and creativity over the years. Her work has also been featured in Communication Arts Magazine, Lurzer's International Archive, Advertising Age and Ad Week.
Sharon currently lives in Asheville, NC with her husband of 16 years, 2 dogs and a cat. She lives an active lifestyle enjoying traveling, scuba diving, downhill and cross country skiing, hiking, backpacking, organic gardening, creative writing, art, design and photography.
